A restaurant in Winder, Ga., agreed to pay out $135,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of several black employees who were allegedly treated unfairly because of race. According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, the general manager of Krystal Restaurant, owned by New Capital Dimensions, allegedly ordered three black employees to be strip searched after money went missing from a register operated by a white employee. The white cashier was never searched, and a fourth black employee was allegedly fired the day after for complaining about racism in the workplace.
As part of the settlement, Krystal Restaurant agreed to pay the $135,000 fine and institute anti-discrimination training and policies, but did not admit any wrongdoing.
